Tagged: Amcol Systems Debt Collection
Hey everyone, I’m going through something pretty stressful and hoping someone here has dealt with it too. A few weeks ago I started getting nonstop calls from Amcol Systems, claiming I owe a debt. They call multiple times a day (even late at night sometimes), and yesterday one of their agents threatened to garnish my wages or sue me if I don’t pay immediately. I asked them for a written validation of the debt but all I got was more phone calls.
I’ve read that constant or abusive contacting is considered debt collection harassment, and that collectors must send you a written notice and can’t threaten things they don’t have the legal power to do (like arresting you). But I feel so stuck and overwhelmed.
So I’m asking the Reddit community:
Has anyone else been through harassment from Amcol Systems?
What steps did you take to make them stop?
Did you ever dispute the debt or send a formal cease-communication letter, and did it work for you?
Is there any legal recourse worth pursuing?
I’m hoping to collect others’ stories here so no one else has to feel helpless. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share.
